Yeah – you and I both wish…
But thanks to the folks at DabbleU, the wish might be a reality sooner than we both think.
I’m working on a low fantasy, literary fan fiction novel based on Ruth Chew’s 1973 middle-grade book What the Witch Left.
In the original, Katy and Louise go on magical adventures with some items Katy’s Aunt Martha left locked in a drawer.
Now all grown up, and having plenty of grown-up troubles, Kate and Lou (their adult names) reconnect and find Aunt Martha’s magical things when cleaning Kate’s mom’s house after her recent passing. They realize the adventures they had attributed to their imaginations were actually real!
At first, they think the items might improve their troublesome adult lives. But then they learn of Aunt Martha’s terrible fate at the hands of a woman who had encountered the magical objects as a disenchanted teenager.
They must fight to get Aunt Martha’s things back and find someone worthy of carrying on her legacy.
